The researcher at the Institute of Engineering and Management, Kolkata have once again proved their innovation, research, and entrepreneurship capabilities by introducing a low-cost ECG Machine.
Their research aims to make the Electrocardiogram (ECG) machine a household health equipment just like the Blood Pressure Meter or the Oximeter. The machine can help monitor critical patients during the ‘Golden Hour’ in their house itself.
They have successfully reduced the price too as low as Rs.1200 or 16.09 USD which is an important milestone in their research. Currently, they are working on making the machine more suitable for the common people by implementing Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence for accurate interpretation of the electrocardiograms and introducing features such as ‘Heart-Attack Alert’
Every year, nearly 3 million people die of a heart attack in India. A great number of them could be saved if they got proper medical care within the golden hour. This device has the potential to turn around the numbers by alerting people at the right time.
The researchers at IEM give us a promising idea of the scientific advancements the future of India will endeavor.
