ABOUT THE ADMIN OF EVERY MORNING ASIA
This would be surprising for many followers,s but the reality is that the, that the administrator of the page every morning Asia is a ROMANIAN economist.
During our interview with Vlad Adrian Ciobanu, the admin of the page, we have addressed several questions about him, his educational background, interests, achievements, and of course, future plans.
Q.You are a Romanian economist, but you have an interest in Asian politics. What is the reason behind this?
VLAD ADRIAN CIOBANU replied:
For me, however, this is not so curious because over the years with the international system becoming more and more integrated (an aspect that will continue despite many criticisms from anti-globalization proponents), the economic part has begun to be found even more at the root of major political decisions, and unfortunately even conflicts (we have as an example the tense relations between the US and Japan in the 1990s starting with the signing of the Plaza Accords in 1985, with China now practically taking over Japan in economic matters). Therefore, I would find it more surprising if the administrator of a page dedicated to both political and geostrategic issues of a region considered by many to be the future of the world economy, has no economic background, rather than someone with comprehensive economic knowledge who understands what triggers many political decisions. I say this because, to the surprise of many, there are a lot of political actions in both the Indo-Pacific and the Middle East that even though are stated to be taken in the name of solving purely cultural issues, in fact, there is an economic `raison d’être` behind them.

THE EDUCATION BACKGROUND AND QUALIFICATION OF THE PAGE ADMIN ( VLAD ADRIAN CIOBANU).
From the beginning of his first studies, Vlad has always interested in economics and that so he graduated from the Bucharest Academy of economics studies, specializing in international economic relations (BEcon). but after three years he admits that he was not so convinced that he wants to continue on economics in the future. so he has decided to apply to the Master of Arts(MA) program in international relations and Diplomatic studies at the University of Bucharest.
Q.How did you get back your interest in economics, and what can you tell us about your professional qualifications?
VLAD ADRIAN CIOBANU replied: when I applied for a Master of Arts (MA) program in International Relations and Diplomatic Studies at the University of Bucharest. That’s when I really found out how correlated economics and politics are in international decisions. Not that I wasn’t aware of it, but I was surprised to see how many foreign policy decisions have purely economic interests behind them. This brought back my interest in the economic study and even strengthened my curiosity to surpass myself in this field. After a period of working, I felt that the theories learned were not sufficient with certain economic aspects that intrigued me during my MA studies. Therefore, I decided to continue studying economics outside Romania in order to have a different perspective. For me, this decision was important because of the academic advantages that you get, such as new teaching techniques and different structures of the courses. I enrolled at the University of Amsterdam, the European Studies program where I chose to specialize in European Economics. Here I was introduced to the neo-Keynesian school of economic thought, which was at odds with the neoclassical theories with which I was accustomed to after graduating from the first program in Romania. Now I have been able to critically analyze the macroeconomic issues we are facing and to better understand the economic dimension of two schools of economic thinking: Monetarist and Keynesian. During the second year of study, I was introduced to intensive courses in Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, followed by a module of applied macroeconomics where I could successfully apply the theories learned in situations that we face in our daily life. Here, under the supervision of the course professor, I was encouraged in preparing several academic papers on Youth Unemployment, Knowledge-Economy and the Macroeconomics of the Euro-crisis, researches with which I was used in the past but which allowed me to better fix the essential information and supplement it with new ideas and conclusions.

THE IDEA BEHIND THE CREATION OF EVERY MORNING ASIA.
Every Morning Asia now becomes one the most popular news and analysis page on Instagram with 18k + followers. By seeing the success of the page many people all over Asia wants to know what lies behind the idea to create a page whose content covers all the latest economic and political news dedicated to Asian affairs.
Q.How did you get the idea to make this Instagram page?
VLAD ADRIAN CIOBANU replied:
It is curious because if we analyze my previous academic background mentioned above, we will not be able to find any correlation with the region I am writing about today for every_morning_asia. Including my previous studies in economics, beyond the generally valid theories, were focused more on Europe, especially the Eurozone (euro-crisis, north-south economic divergences, domestic political and economic situation in Greece, euro area reform, just to name a few). However, my interest in Asia has always been there. My first Bachelor’s program graduation paper was about “The Economic Relations between the EU-27 and the People’s Republic of China“. My MA dissertation at the time of graduation was entitled “Political dynamics in the Middle East in the period following the fall of the Ottoman Empire“. And my first research paper at the University of Amsterdam covered the topic of “To what extent are the US and China in a cold war? “. Although at the University of Amsterdam, I was in a European Studies and European Economics program, almost all of my weekly assignments were about China, Hong Kong, India, or Japan. When I was assigned to choose a country, any country, to do my assignment about, it had to be one from Asia. Probably those years in Amsterdam were the starting point of an idea that I recently materialized.
THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF EVERY_MORNING_ASIA
Because many people are interested in quality content, the readers of Every Morning Asia now have the chance to get all necessary information of current Asian affairs only by following its daily posts
Q.What are the most important achievements of the page so far?
VLAD ADRIAN CIOBANU replied:
I like to think that every_morning_asia is a mission born of personal interest. I say personal interest because the Middle East and the Indo-Pacific regions are clearly an area I want to be informed about as much as possible. And mission because I intend to share the content I write with those who either do not have enough access to such information or have not yet discovered their interest in the region. I consider that every_morning_asia today exceeded my expectations at the time of the first posts. I have not expected that in time these topics will end up catching so much, and the page will end up growing in followers as it does today. If in the beginning, with limited financial resources, I was followed by about 50 people daily, today the number has increased to about 300 followers per day (with the same allocated financial resources). Another aspect that makes me wonderstruck is the reaction of those who follow me. I constantly receive messages of support and even messages through which I am asked to cover certain topics. This determines not only to continue but also to come up with improved content quality.
we can see that the page has already achieved many things and the most important is the love from the viewer’s
How did you get so many ideas about Asia?
VLAD ADRIAN CIOBANU replied:
The ideas certainly come from somewhere, especially since the nature of the page involves vigorous research. Currently, the ideas come from various pages in the field that I follow or to which I subscribe. Based on a specific topic that captures my interest, I start doing short research before writing the draft that becomes a daily public post on every_morning_asia. I say that this involves prior research because I do not want to come up with information considered either one-sided or that favors one involved party to the detriment of the other. For this reason, I want to assure all my followers that the content wants to be as impartial and neutral as possible and to present the covered issues in the most general-valid way possible. The worst thing that can happen is for every_morning_asia to be considered a biased page.
from the statement of admin, we can see that it’s really a very difficult task to read, watch, analyze and then write this is very tough work. from this, we can say that the admin is curious and punctual for his work.
DO YOU HAVE OTHER RELATED INTERESTS?
I am currently interested in Asian regional organizations, particularly ASEAN (The Association of Southeast Asian Nations). This is motivated by my concern for Asian regional integration on the model of the European Union. Although he is aware of the existence of other regional intergovernmental organizations such as SAARC (The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation), BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation), The Gulf Cooperation Council, or Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Ciobanu doesn’t consider any of them as robust as ASEAN. Moreover, ASEAN can be a starting point for an economic union operating beyond the ASEAN membership of 10 states, with the initiation of ASEAN Plus Three, a forum that functions as a co-operation coordinator between ASEAN and the three East-Asian nations of China, South Korea, and Japan, followed by the inclusion of India, Australia, and New Zealand in what would become ASEAN Plus Six, a group that could act as a prerequisite for the planned East Asia Community (a proposed trade bloc for the East Asian and Southeast Asian countries), which was supposedly patterned after the European Community (now transformed into the European Union). Therefore, he follows closely the political and economic developments within ASEAN, as well as the organizational nature of a body that could one day become an EU-designed political and economic union.
What are your plans for the future?
VLAD ADRIAN CIOBANU replied.
At the moment I am working on a much bigger project than every_morning_asia, but of which every_morning_asia will of course be a very important part. Therefore, every_morning_asia will not remain behind, but on the contrary, it will become even bigger with the completion of the current project. I intend to launch a website dedicated to the study of both the Middle East and the Indo-Pacific. Behind my motivation to start such an educational platform are the various limitations I faced on Instagram (the size of the content and the target groups being among the main ones). I believe that with the launch of this website, research on important topics in the region will be able to have more conclusive and detailed content, thus better responding to the public’s demands to address certain topics more closely. I also believe that through this website, the information will be able to reach the general public more accurately than is happening at the moment with every_morning_asia, which has most captured the attention of the South Asian public, and less in other parts of the Asian continent or Europe. At this point, the main goal is for our content to be visible as much as possible in the Western Hemisphere, and to make the public there more curious about what is happening on the Asian continent, an aspect that also attracted our motto: “Dare To Asia, Dare To Know”.
OUR RECOMMENDATION
WE STRICTLY RECOMMEND THIS PAGE TO THOSE WHO WANT TO GAIN MORE INFORMATION ABOUT ASIA AND TO ALL STUDENTS WHO ARE PREPARING FOR THE CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION FOR WHOM THE CONTENT OF THIS PAGE MIGHT BE USEFUL FOR THE COMPREHENSIVE STUDY OF DIFFERENT TOPICS OF INTEREST.
