GOVT LAUNCHES SANDESH APP –ALTERNATE TO WHATSAPP
Govt of india after watching the need of secure and safe data transfer has launched a fully indigenous messeging app SANDES APP.
It is launched by the NIC( National Informatics Centre) in the name of GIMS ( Govt Instant Messeging system). Its first version was launched in August 2020 but it was only for govt officials, later extended to androids and iOS.
Govt was working on the development of such indigenous apps from past 4 years but it got pace after india being hit by COVID-19 pandemic.
WHY IT IS LAUNCHED—

After the pandemic hit india..most of the work was done from home. Data got to transferd online which increased the cyber crimes and leak of personal information. This made indian govt to seek a safe and indigenous data transfer app.
WhatsApp and other apps has been constantly changing their privacy policy. Whatsapp private policy is different for India and Europe.
After the security scares, ministry of home affairs ,in April ,also banned the zoom app after the data being leaked from there and asked govt officials not to use it for official purposes.
Thus,it was prominently needed for secured communication.
1.Sandesh app is similar with current messaging apps.
2.To register in the app you need email I’d and phone number.
3.There is additional safety provided in the arena of data transfer and communications.
4.There is no backup facility but GIMS can be backed up by using email I’d.
5. You cannot change your email I’d or phone no. if once registered.
Its successful trial has been done and it’s ready to come up in the market soon.
